Prison Ministry
Ministry to Women in Prison is truly a volunteer-dependent ministry. God has blessed this ministry with many Calvary women who have volunteered to provide ministry to prisoners at Scott Correctional Facility, Huron Valley Women’s Correctional Facility and Camp Brighton. Today there are many women like you who have become outreach volunteers and are visiting women prisoners. They are encouraging them through letters, visits and one on one Bible study. We believe that crime is a moral problem—Christians call it “sin”—and the only way to really change society is by helping individuals make lasting changes in their own lives by committing their lives and values to Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible. Therefore, it is vital that our outreach volunteers live by these same beliefs, and Calvary Baptist Church has a Statement of Faith to which volunteers and employees must indicate their agreement.
We can become overwhelmed by all the statistics on the number of crimes, the number of prisoners, and the high recidivism rates; but there is hope…and that hope comes from the lives changed through the love of Jesus Christ. You can make a difference by being God’s messenger to those impacted by crime.
